Sedation dentistry
in Lafayette, LA, and Fort Collins, CO
If fear or anxiety has been keeping you from getting the dental care you need, sedation dentistry makes it possible to get everything done comfortably, calmly, and on your terms.

What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry uses safe, carefully administered medications to help patients relax during dental procedures, from routine treatments all the way through complex surgical cases like implant placement and full-mouth restoration. At Restoral Dentures & Implants, we offer a full range of sedation options so that every patient, regardless of their anxiety level or the complexity of their treatment, can receive the care they need without fear getting in the way.
Our team takes the time to understand your comfort level and your concerns before recommending a sedation option, because we believe that feeling safe and relaxed during your procedure isn't a luxury, it's something every patient deserves.
The benefits of sedation dentistry
Sedation dentistry isn't just about comfort in the moment. It's about making it possible for patients who have been putting off care to finally get the treatment they need and deserve.
Finally get the care you've been avoiding
Dental anxiety is one of the most common reasons people delay treatment, sometimes for years. Sedation removes that barrier so you can walk in, get everything taken care of, and walk out feeling good about it.
More treatment, fewer visits
When you're relaxed and comfortable, our team can often accomplish more in a single appointment, which means fewer trips to the office and a faster path to your final result.
A genuinely comfortable experience
Many sedation patients are surprised by how pleasant their appointment feels, and some remember very little of the procedure at all. If the idea of being in the dental chair has always felt overwhelming, sedation can genuinely change that experience.
The sedation dentistry process
Your consultation and sedation recommendation
At your consultation, we'll talk through your anxiety level, your medical history, and the procedure you're having done so we can recommend the sedation option that's the best fit for you. We'll explain exactly how your chosen sedation works, what you'll feel, how long it lasts, and anything you need to do to prepare.
Your procedure, done comfortably
On the day of your appointment, your sedation will be administered according to the method you've chosen, and our team will monitor you closely throughout the entire procedure to make sure you remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Whether you're lightly relaxed with nitrous oxide or in a deeper sedated state with IV sedation, we move at a pace that works for you and check in regularly to make sure everything feels right.
Recovery and follow-up care
Once your procedure is complete, we'll make sure you're fully alert and stable before you leave our office. If you've had oral conscious or IV sedation, your designated driver will take you home and we'll provide detailed aftercare instructions so you know exactly what to expect during recovery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are honest answers to the questions we hear most often about sedation dentistry so you can feel fully informed before your appointment.

Yes. All of the sedation options we offer at Restoral are safe, well-established, and administered by trained professionals who monitor you closely throughout your entire procedure. Before recommending any sedation option, we review your full medical history and any medications you're currently taking to make sure the chosen method is appropriate for you. Your safety and comfort are our highest priorities, and we never move forward with sedation until we're confident it's the right fit.
That depends on the type of sedation you choose. Nitrous oxide keeps you fully conscious and alert, just relaxed and comfortable. Oral conscious sedation produces a drowsy, semi-aware state where you can still respond to your care team but may remember little of the procedure afterward. IV sedation puts you in a deep, sleep-like state with minimal to no memory of the appointment. Our team will help you choose the level that's right for your anxiety level and your procedure.
If you're having oral conscious sedation or IV sedation, yes, you will need a designated driver to bring you to and from your appointment. Nitrous oxide wears off quickly enough that most patients can drive themselves home after their visit. We'll let you know exactly what's required based on the sedation option you choose, well in advance of your appointment date.
